What happens when you fail a drug test with DISA? ›

If an employee fails a drug test through DISA's program, it will remain on their account indefinitely. Depending on the industry and/or workplace policy, employees have the opportunity to complete a Return-to-Duty test and process.

Make sure that your selection process is truly random. Use a computerized random number generator to draw names. Have someone in your company's human resources department randomly choose the date each quarter when the drug tests will occur using the random number generator.

The FAA follows the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) drug testing regulations, and those regulations require testing for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates/opioids, phencyclidine (PCP) and amphetamines (which includes methamphetamines and MDMA (“Ecstasy”)).

In many cases where the drug is illegal, or there is no medical reason for using it, employment may be terminated. In addition, failing a DOT drug and alcohol test remains on your record for three years.
